In the second part of the show Jeff Blumenfeld gives several tips to those looking for companies that will sponsor their trips. He says that one must do his homework before approaching a company regarding sponsorship.

He talks about various ways of going on trips where one can not only get paid, but also get a wonderful experience. For instance, a photographer can go on someone else’s trip to shoot video and pictures. Likewise, someone with medical experience can sign as a trip doctor. He also talks about how a company can get exposure by sponsoring expeditions that are relevant to it.

The guest on this week’s Steve Perillo Travel Show is Jeff Blumenfeld, founder of Blumenfeld and Associates, Inc., a public relations and special events firm, which has among its clientele names such as 3M Thinsulate, Du Pont, Virgin Atlantic, and Iceland Tourist Board. He is also the editor and publisher of Expedition News, a newsletter and website that helps companies get involved in Adventure Marketing opportunities.

In his interview with Steve Perillo, the CEO of Perillo Tours, Jeff Blumenfeld talks about his book You Want To Go Where? and the inspiration behind it getting companies to sponsor trips. According to him, there has to be a bigger reason, such as a good cause or a record breaking attempt, to get companies sponsor your trip.

Erik Hastings on Travel Broadcasting – 2

On the second part of the Perillo Travel Show, Erik Hastings recounts how he began his career in travel broadcasting industry and his journey towards The Travel Show host on WABC. He reveals to Steve Perillo that he started doing radio from the age of 15, but later quit his job to pursue a career in acting. When his acting career failed to take off, he decided to go back to radio on his friend’s suggestion. He started as a vacation relief board operator and went on to become the host on The Travel Show on WABC.

When quizzed if he wanted to do television after his travel show on radio, Erik Hastings answers that there is more potential for growth on the web than television. According to him, people can get unbiased and good information only on the web.

In his interview with Steve Perillo, the CEO of Perillo Tours, Rudy Maxa reveals that he started his career as an investigative journalist with the Washington Post but later shifted to travel journalism. He says that he has certain responsibilities being a travel journalist. He does not encourage the idea of giving positive reviews about hotels or other places just because he is offered freebies.
